Imagine having your local town government actually begging you to accept a job. Usually struggling with unemployment, this is a story many people find hard to believe. And while that may be normal for some, it is not so in the town of Kaitangata located at the south of New Zealand which has 800 citizens and 1,000 job openings! The small community is living a traditional classic lifestyle, away from the urban mess and is ideal for people who want to take on the rural surroundings.
Due to the successful dairy and freezing industry the town is flourishing but there are just not enough people to take on the extra jobs. This is why the town Mayor opened a call, offering combined employment and housing packages worth $165,000 a year. Some of the first applicants could not believe their luck when they first discovered where they are and what they got.
Kaitangata is near the coastline and is a true picture of New Zealand landscapes we see on travel photography.
